Panel Building

Acorn Engineering builds Electrical Control panels for Marine applications. We have a standard product range, which can be viewed in our catalogue.

We have our own computer driven 3 axis engraving equipment, so can design and build any layout you desire if you need specific dimensions. We build our panels to the appropriate ISO standards, and can provide CE marking and declaration of conformity to the Recreational Craft Directive where required. Our panels are prewired, so the installer only has to connect an incoming cable to a main busbar, and outgoing cables to each circuit

Our range includes DC distribution panels, with fuses, which have switches to the side, or circuit breakers which can be the switching type, or non switching with separate switches to the side. We build using ETA or Carling DC circuit breakers, or Bulgin switches and fuseholders. Our switches and fuseholders have higher DC amperage ratings than those used by many competitor products. DC panels are made in 6,8,10,12,16 and 20 way as standard. We also offer the larger panels with metering, either with conventional analogue meters, or with digital meters.

We also build a Mains Manager panel to help keep AC mains electrics safely controlled. These panels have a source selector switch to provide input from Shore, Inverter or Genset. These switches are double pole and ensure different sources can never be connected together, which would be highly dangerous. The panel will also include a set of polarity check indicators for the shore power, a mains voltmeter, an RCD and 2 or 3 outgoing circuit breaker (although more can be provided). On the Inverter input, our panels can be made suitable for Inverters without chargers, or Combi Inverter /Chargers. There are several ways of arranging things when a Combi is being used, and we suggest you contact us so we can outline the options to enable you to make a choice.

We also build digital ammeter and voltmeter displays In several versions. The ammeters use shunts in the systemto measure current flow in or out of the battery. They can be made suitable for just about every type of system commonly used, eg Relay or Diode split charging, or Battery changeover switch system. We will be happy to tailor the panels to your needs.
